Understanding MRONJ (BRONJ)
What is MRONJ?
MRONJ (Medication Related Osteonecrosis of the Jaw) replaces the name of the condition formerly known as BRONJ (Bisphosphonate-Related Osteonecrosis of the Jaw). Osteonecrosis of the jaw, or death of the jaw bone, has been associated with drugs used to prevent osteoporosis or used to treat a form of cancer. MRONJ is a side effect of bisphosphonate and antiresorptive medication therapy.
